President Donald Trump has promised to always put America first.
And that means clamping down on criminals illegally crossing the United States border.
Now it looks like Trump has just scored a major victory.
According to data from U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), border arrests for the fiscal year ending September 30 were at their lowest point since 1971.
In other words, Trump has just accomplished something that no other president has been able to do in 46 years.
And he did it during his first year in office.
Border patrol arrests are a good barometer for how many people are trying to sneak into America illegally.
And it looks like the word is out… especially in Mexico and Central American countries… that America is cracking down on illegal immigration.
Trump has increased patrols at the borders, over the objections of many Democrats in Congress, making it harder than ever to illegally enter America.
And while border crossings and border arrests are down sharply, the Trump Administration is beefing up arrests of illegal immigrants already living in America.
According to ICE data, 143,370 illegal immigrants were arrested during the fiscal year ending September 30 – a 25 percent increase over the previous year.
President Trump promised to stop the coddling of illegal immigrants that occurred during Barack Obama's eight years as president.
And it looks like he's keeping his word.
Now, just wait until Trump gets his border wall.
