Former President Barack Obama spent eight years making a sport out of lying to the American public.
He claimed that America didn’t pay ransom to Iran to free American hostages.
And remember his promise that if you liked your health insurance, you’d be able to keep it?
But now a respected national reporter is claiming that Obama lied to… and defrauded… the American public to win the 2012 presidential election.
And he abused his power as commander-in-chief by putting out false national security information.
At a conference late last week, Rukmini Callimachi, one of the top terror reporters in America, detailed a coordinated misinformation campaign conducted by the Obama Administration in 2012.
The administration sought to bolster Obama’s national security reputation – and his chances of re-election – by issuing bogus national security updates about Obama’s successes against the terror group Al Qaeda.
The Obama Administration released 17 documents about Al Qaeda in May 2012 that portrayed the group as degraded, weakened, and isolated.
But a trove of military documents released by the Trump Administration this year has revealed that Obama’s assertions were not true.
The terror group was actively engaged in operations around the world and mastermind Osama bin Laden was still very much in control until his death in 2011, despite previous pledges made by Obama.
And Obama and his advisers were in possession of these documents proving that their narrative was a lie, but prevented them from being released.
“These are literally quotes that I would get: the organization has been “decimated,” the organization is in “disarray,” the organization is “on the run,” Callimachi said. “At the same time that we were preparing to pull out troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, I think that it was important to portray this as a problem that no longer existed.”
Callimachi said the Obama administration directly lied to her about Al Qaeda’s operations.
She personally investigated an active African terror group that Obama officials promised was not linked to Al Qaeda.
Subsequently discovered documents proved that was a lie, and that the group was actually being “micromanaged” by senior Al Qaeda leadership.
“Suddenly, my worldview, which had been informed by [Obama’s] officials…started to fall apart,” Callimachi said.
So why the deception? With countries like Iraq falling into disarray and groups like ISIS beginning to rise to power, Obama was desperate to portray himself as a man winning the War on Terror. It was essential to his re-election prospects.
Now, it looks like Obama deliberately disseminated false national security information to boost his own chances of staying in power.
It’s another lie to add to Obama’s long list… and it’s one that may have misled millions of American voters.
