Special Counsel Robert Mueller has spent months – and millions of taxpayer dollars – trying to bring down President Donald Trump.
Now, Mueller’s probe into alleged Russian election interference is looking like a taxpayer-funded scam.
And it’s starting to unravel.
House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes is considering filing Contempt of Congress charges against the Federal Bureau of Investigation leadership overseeing the Mueller investigation.
The FBI is being accused of stonewalling Congress and failing to produce information on a disgraced FBI official quietly fired from the Mueller team earlier this year.
The agent, Peter Strzok, allegedly exchanged anti-Trump and pro-Hillary Clinton text messages with a mistress.
The Strzok case is the latest evidence that the Mueller probe is a politically motivated witch hunt that has been stacked with Democratic Party operatives from the start.
Strzok was also part of the FBI team that refused to indict Clinton for mishandling classified information on private email servers.
“By hiding from Congress, and from the American people, documented political bias by a key FBI head investigator for both the Russia collusion probe and the Clinton email investigation, the FBI and DOJ engaged in a willful attempt to thwart Congress’ constitutional oversight responsibility,” Nunes said.
And if Mueller’s probe isn’t shut down for political bias, it should certainly be stopped for failing to produce results.
To date, Mueller’s most significant indictments have been against former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort and former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
Both had very short-lived associations with Trump, and neither man has been charged with anything related to colluding with Russia to influence the 2016 presidential election.
Manafort’s alleged crimes relate to his work with foreign governments years before he worked for Trump, and likely before he even met Trump.
And Flynn entered a guilty plea for lying to the FBI about contacting Russia during the transition period after Trump won the election, but before he was sworn-in as president.
Those lies are the same reason Trump fired Flynn after just a few weeks.
But, as conservative commentator Ben Shapiro pointed out, talking with the Russians after the election wasn’t even a crime. Flynn simply lied about it during an investigation that shouldn’t even be happening.
Mueller has stacked his team with anti-Trump investigators, and this is still the best he can do.
Now, it’s time for Congress and the American people to face an uncomfortable truth.
The Mueller probe is a fraud… a political scam… and it has been since Day One.
And it’s high time we stopped wasting government resources on it.
