It’s crunch time for the 20-something Democratic candidates and their 2020 hopes.
The next few weeks are sure to be crucial for deciding who will be going up against President Donald Trump.
But one candidate has already run into trouble and it looks like they’re campaign is as good as over.
The Daily Wire reported that Pete Buttigieg has missed several political events in South Carolina and other early primary states in order to handle a fallout from a viral video showing a white South Bend police officer shooting a black man brandishing a knife.
But the story here is what happened once Buttigieg confronted a group of protestors.
According to the report, the South Bend Mayor confronted a group of “Black Lives Matter” protestors and their concerns… but had trouble handling the crowd – and their questions.
He came under fire from the protestors as well for being a “progressive” on the other side of what’s being considered a racial incident.
Once Buttigieg admitted that it wasn’t clear if the officer involved in the shooting had a history of racist behavior like some of the protestors claimed, the crowd began to question the Mayor.
One man in the crowd who claimed he was the brother of the man shot stated, “I’m mad because my brother died… People are getting tired of you letting your officers do whatever they want to do.
Another protestor who claimed to be the mother of the man later said, “I have been here all my life, and you have not done a damn thing about me or my son or none of these people out here… It’s time for you to do something.”
Things got really interesting when Buttigieg had an “awkward” exchange with the crowd.
According reports, the exchange went something like this…
Mayor Pete Buttigieg: “I do not have evidence that there has been discipline for racist behavior...”
Protester: “You running for president and you expect black people to vote for you?”
Buttigieg: “I’m not asking for your vote.”
Protester: “You ain’t gonna get it either.” pic.twitter.com/tK1Ys0Yvfc

But the real problem for Buttigieg came next when a panel on NBC Sunday Morning deemed the Mayor’s campaign over with no hopes of making it past the primaries.
