Liberals have been plotting to remove President Donald Trump from office since the day he was sworn in.
But could Trump’s biggest threat come from within his inner circle?
That’s the warning being sounded by former Trump advisor – and top Washington insider – Roger Stone.
Stone is a well-known lobbyist and business partner of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.
And Stone claims that Trump’s Cabinet has actively engaged in discussions on removing Trump from office using the 25th Amendment.
It would be a treasonous coup that is unprecedented in American history.
“I think it’s the fallback plan for the establishment,” Stone said in a recent interview on C-SPAN. “That’s why I’m trying to sound the clarion call.”
The 25th Amendment allows the president to be removed by a simple vote of the Cabinet and vice president. It’s supposed to be invoked in cases where the president is impaired and is no longer capable of executing his duties.
Stone, while refusing to reveal his sources, claimed that he had first-hand knowledge that discussions about removing Trump had occurred among Cabinet members.
“This is not a conspiracy theory,” Stone said. “There are members of the Cabinet who have had this discussion. Let me just leave it at that.”
While it would be easy to dismiss Stone's claims, the idea of ousting Trump via the 25th Amendment has been speculated about by news outlets like CNN, NBC, the Washington Post, and more.
And two months ago, Congresswoman Jackie Speier of California called on Trump’s Cabinet to make the traitorous move.
Of course, any such action against Trump would rightly be seen as an illegal coup.
Trump may be controversial, but he's clearly not incapacitated.
Instead, the Trump Cabinet would be misapplying the 25th Amendment to remove a democratically elected leader from office.
That's not something that patriotic Americans will take sitting down.
So is Stone right? Is Trump's Cabinet a threat?
Time will tell -- but we'll be following the story closely.
