Hillary Clinton and her campaign cronies spent the better part of a year lying about the so-called “Trump Dossier.”
But they may have done a lot more than stretch the truth.
It’s starting to look like they committed crimes. And there may be no running from the law this time.
Clinton’s campaign had previously denied any role in the discredited Trump Dossier, which is filled with scandalous allegations about everything from President Donald Trump’s sex life to his business dealings.
Now we know that Clinton’s campaign secretly funded the dossier… and even helped leak it to the FBI, where it was used to conduct possibly illegal surveillance on Trump’s campaign.
But all of that is starting to look like the tip of a deep, ugly, and criminal iceberg.
The Trump Dossier wasn’t just a lie-filled Clinton campaign document. It appears that Clinton’s political allies were directly feeding bogus information to dossier author Christopher Steele (who then may have lied about it).
So much for Steele having “objective” sources. His sources were apparently Clinton campaign operatives.
According to a recently released document from the Senate Judiciary Committee, many of the “sources” for the dossier had direct connections to Clinton and her campaign.
So Clinton pals were feeing salacious lies about Trump to Steele. Steele printed the lies as truth and gave them to the FBI. And the lies were used to stage a ridiculous and un-American surveillance on Trump’s campaign – like something out of the Soviet KGB playbook.
Even worse, key Senators believe that Steele misled the government about the sources for his dossier, and major criminal charges could be coming.
They’ll start with Steele… and you can expect that Clinton campaign officials will be caught up in the mess, too.
The Senate has already issued a criminal referral for Steele, which could lead to prosecution by the Department of Justice.
And when that shoe drops, expect Steele to sing like a canary and reveal more crimes that can be traced back to the Clinton campaign.
"It is troubling enough that the Clinton Campaign funded Mr. Steele's work, but that these Clinton associates were contemporaneously feeding Mr. Steele allegations raises additional concerns about his credibility," Senators Chuck Grassley and Lindsey Graham said in a letter.
Troubling? Absolutely. Criminal? It’s starting to look like it.
