Congress is SUPPOSED to do the work of the American people.
But let’s face it – more often than not they just talk a good game and never get anything done.
Here’s our list of the four things Congress SHOULD be doing… but isn’t. They’ll leave you demanding much more out of your representatives!
#4 – Grill Facebook Execs For the TRUTH
On April 11, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will finally testify before Congress on how the social media giant collects and uses the data of MILLIONS of Americans.
There’s no doubt Congress will grill Zuckerberg on Cambridge Analytica, a firm that allegedly mined 50 million Facebook users’ data to help President Donald Trump’s campaign (which Democrats will latch on to).
Congressional Republicans will likely use the April 11 hearing as a chance to get Zuckerberg’s take on why Facebook VOLUNTARILY handed over data on millions of users to Obama’s campaign to help Obama win re-election.
This is all a good start… but it’s not enough.
Despite Zuckerberg’s public apologies, Facebook has been going ‘rogue’ for years and the American people deserve transparency with how their data is being used… no matter how many times Congress has to pull Zuckerberg in front of them.
#3 – Common Sense Border Security
Because Congress can’t get their act together, President Trump was forced to sign a proclamation to send the National Guard to the U.S. Mexico border to ensure drugs, criminals, and illegal immigrants cannot enter the country.
But it shouldn’t come down to this.
The Homeland Security Committee, Judiciary Committee and Oversight Committee should continue to hold numerous hearings on securing our borders. Congress should also pass legislation allowing President Trump to reallocate funds from Department of Defense to help fund a wall to keep our borders safe.
Both measures are EASILY doable by Congress.
#2 – Corruption on Robert Mueller’s Team
The House and Senate Judiciary and Oversight Committees need to ask Special Counsel Robert Mueller HOW he established his team.
Not a single lawyer working for Mueller is a Republican!
You read that correctly… NONE of the 16 publicly-confirmed lawyers on special counsel Mueller’s team are registered Republicans.
Nine of the 16 lawyers on Mueller’s team have made a total of $62,000 in donations to Democrats.
An all-Democrat team was intentionally assembled to attack and discredit Trump… and Congress should DEMAND answers from Meuller.
#1 – Confirm President Trump’s Appointees
President Trump has blasted Democrats for obstructing his nominations and urged the Senate to move faster to confirm his nominees.
According to Trump’s Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, 43 percent of Trump’s nominations are still awaiting confirmation in the Senate. She also said there have been 102 fewer confirmations so far than the next closest administration.
That’s ridiculous! Congress needs to put an end to the delay tactics.
